Summer time brings us our anticipated steamy, longer days and a slower pace. We love to enjoy more time on our front porches or someone elses, as described in our Front Porches article in the current June Issue.
This is also true of the porch at Baabals Ice Cream in Fletcher, NC. A 106 year old two story home with a large wrap around porch complete with a swing for customers to socialize and indulge in a yummy, frozen treat. Baabals Ice Cream and Coffee Shop is a family owned and operated business that provides a wide variety of Hershey's ice cream flavors.
"It was a lifelong dream to find this" said owner, Roy Dickerson. "I was looking for the right time and place for an old timey ice cream shop."
So why does this sugary treasure have such a strange name? Well, the reason is just as sweet as the place itself, The word Baabals represents the first letter of each of his children and grandchild's names!
Clearly, Roy is a wonderful supporter of his family. He holds his friends and the community just as high. That is why he has created a place to gather and celebrate life.
The home is an amazing relic, taking you back in time to the more simple days. Decorated perfectly, the house has stayed true to its era while also being filled with splashes of energetic color and charming furnishings. Stop by and sit a while on the porch and enjoy your favorite ice cream.
