Are you looking for somewhere fun and unique to take the kids this fall? You and your family can enjoy a scenic ride through the majestic mountains of Western North Carolina on your way to visit the Tweetsie Railroad theme park. It is located on Highway 321 between Boone and Blowing Rock, and it boasts Wild West fun for the whole family!
This theme park has it all! With everything from thrill rides, a petting zoo, and live entertainment, to good old fashioned panning for gold, there really is something for everyone. The one thing you do not want to miss is riding on one of the coal powered steam engines. The two steam engines are named “Tweetsie” and “Yukon Queen.” These two trains are the heart and soul of this park. “Tweetsie” was built in 1917, and the “Yukon Queen” was built in 1943. If you visit the park during the trains' operating season, be sure to take a ride and experience a taste of history! You can take a break from riding rides and watching shows to eat at any of the several places that the park offers. To satisfy your sweet tooth, make sure to get a funnel cake from the Funnel Factory. There are also several shops if you are looking for that perfect gift for someone or want to take home a unique souvenir. You can create fun memories with your friends and family after spending a day at the Tweetsie Railroad theme park!
If you have older children and want to take them to a Halloween themed event, then plan on visiting the park at night on any of the weekends in October. A fun filled night awaits, with trick-or-treating, a haunted house, a 3-D maze, a creepy carnival, and of course - a ride on the ghost train! You may want to buy your tickets in advance because there are only a limited number of people admitted each night. These tickets are sold separately from the normal park tickets. Be sure to check out the events page for more information and other special activities all year round.
